How to Reach Stormwind City in WoW 1.12.1

◆Where Is Stormwind

Stormwind stands in the northwest of Elwynn Forest in the Eastern Kingdoms, at the foot of a mountain range. Forests and fields of Elwynn lie to the south and east, and the coast lies to the west. The city has no level of its own: it is a safe capital visited by players of any level, while the surrounding zone is meant for levels 1-10. How to Get to Stormwind as Alliance

Humans

Humans start in Northshire Valley next to Northshire Abbey. The route is simple:

1. Leave the valley by the road to the south and reach the village of Goldshire.
2. At the Goldshire crossroads turn northwest and follow the paved road.
3. The road ends at the bridge over the moat and the main gate of Stormwind.

Dwarves and Gnomes

1. From Coldridge Valley go to Kharanos, then up the road to the Gates of Ironforge.
2. Inside Ironforge, head to Tinker Town and go down to the tunnel entrance.
3. Board the Deeprun Tram - the ride is free.
4. The tram arrives in the Dwarven District of Stormwind.

Night Elves

There is no direct ship from Rut'theran to Stormwind in 1.12, so the route is long:

1. From Rut'theran Village take the ship to Auberdine in Darkshore.
2. From Auberdine take the ship to Menethil Harbor in the Wetlands.
3. Walk southeast through the Dun Algaz gorge into Loch Modan, then west through the tunnels into Dun Morogh and on to Ironforge.
4. In Ironforge take the Deeprun Tram to Stormwind.

How to Get to Stormwind as Horde

Stormwind is the capital of the enemy faction. City guards stand at the gate and in every street and attack Horde characters, and the Alliance leaders in Stormwind Keep are protected by elite guards. A lone character will almost certainly die here, so the Horde comes only in raids. Approaches to Elwynn Forest:

1. From the south: take the zeppelin from Orgrimmar or Undercity to Grom'gol Base Camp in Stranglethorn Vale, then go north through Duskwood.
2. From the east: from the Horde flight path in the Burning Steppes through the Redridge Mountains.

Steer clear of Goldshire and Alliance outposts. The game offers no hidden or secret way into the city: the only way in is through the gate.

Where Is the City Entrance

In 1.12 Stormwind has two entrances:

• The main gate in northwestern Elwynn Forest: a bridge over the moat, then the Valley of Heroes and the Trade District. The gryphon flight path is also in the Trade District.
• The Deeprun Tram from Ironforge: it arrives in the Dwarven District.

A harbor with ships and portals to other worlds only appeared in Stormwind in later expansions. This article covers navigation only; the bank, auction house and trainers are described in the city guide.

To avoid making the trip again and again, set your Hearthstone at an innkeeper in Stormwind: the stone can be used once an hour, and you can change your home location at any innkeeper.
