How to Reach Southshore in WoW Vanilla 1.12.1
How to get to Southshore is a question every Alliance character asks once the quests in the Wetlands and Redridge run dry. Southshore is a human port town in Hillsbrad Foothills, the main Alliance base in Lordaeron and the eternal rival of the Horde town of Tarren Mill. Here is the route on the WoW x5 server (Vanilla 1.12.1).

◆Where Southshore Is
The town stands on the southern shore of Hillsbrad Foothills in the Eastern Kingdoms, in the south of the former kingdom of Lordaeron. The recommended zone level is 20–30, although the Alliance usually arrives a little later than the Horde, closer to level 30. It is one of the few places in Lordaeron where humans stayed loyal to the Alliance: there are docks, a town hall, an inn and a graveyard.
Landmarks around it: Tarren Mill of the Forsaken to the north along the road, Nethander Stead and Thoradin's Wall on the Arathi border to the east, Hillsbrad Fields to the west, and Purgation Isle in the sea to the south.
How to Get to Southshore as Alliance
The trip is long, but you will discover several useful flight paths on the way.
- From Stormwind take the Deeprun Tram to Ironforge — see how to get to Ironforge.
- Head east into Loch Modan, discover the Thelsamar flight path and follow the road north through the Dun Algaz tunnel into the Wetlands. The route is covered in how to get to the Wetlands.

- In the Wetlands follow the road northeast past Dun Modr and cross Thandol Span into Arathi Highlands.
- Follow the road to Refuge Pointe and discover the flight path.
- From Refuge Pointe follow the road west through the breach in Thoradin's Wall — Hillsbrad begins beyond it.
- Leave the road and head south to the coast. The gryphon master Darla Harris is in town — talk to her to discover the flight path.

For the Horde Southshore is a hostile town. The closest Horde base is Tarren Mill, and the route there is covered in how to get to Tarren Mill. From there it is a short ride south along the road.
- Alliance guards are much higher level than the zone mobs and attack Horde players on sight.
- Horde quest targets are usually around the town rather than inside it, so there is no reason to enter without a group.
- After a raid on Southshore expect a counter-attack on Tarren Mill.
◆What Southshore Offers
- Flight path — gryphons fly to Ironforge, Menethil Harbor, Refuge Pointe and Aerie Peak in the Hinterlands, provided you have discovered those points.
- Inn — Innkeeper Anderson sets your Hearthstone and sells food and drinks.
- Mailbox, stable and anvil — everything you need for leveling.
- Quest givers — tasks against the Syndicate, the murlocs and naga of the coast and the ogres of the Alterac Mountains, a cooking quest for turtle bisque and the famous yeti fur cloak from the local tailor.
