The fall of Alterac

The Kingdom of Alterac belonged to the Alliance in the Second War, but its king Aiden Perenolde secretly betrayed his allies, taking the Horde's gold. When the treason came to light, the Alliance deposed Alterac and stripped its nobles of their titles. Landless, the aristocrats banded together as the Syndicate.

Banditry in Hillsbrad

Having lost everything, the Syndicate nobles refused to accept it. They raid Hillsbrad Foothills, the Alterac Mountains and Arathi, hoping to seize back their former glory.

Significance in Vanilla

The Syndicate is a constant foe for mid-level players of both factions in the northern lands. Their presence makes Hillsbrad Foothills a dangerous border zone. The Syndicate's story is a lesson in how pride and greed can doom entire kingdoms.

Примечание

Part of the Syndicate is tied to Ravenholdt — a secret rogue guild that, in contrast, opposes them.

The Syndicate on the player's path

For heroes of both factions, Hillsbrad Foothills is an arena of constant clashes, and the Syndicate adds a third, "neutral-hostile" side. Their bandits offer many quests at levels 20–30 and farm well for cloth and coin. In story terms the Syndicate is tied to the Alterac Mountains, where the ruins of the fallen kingdom still stand, and to the nearby Alterac Valley battleground. The tale of proud Alliance nobles fallen into banditry is one of the most instructive stories of the Eastern Kingdoms.
