Thrall (true name Go'el) is the Warchief of the Horde and the mightiest shaman of Azeroth in the Vanilla era. Son of Durotan, chieftain of the Frostwolf clan, he grew up in human captivity but freed his people from the internment camps and led the orcs across the sea to Kalimdor. On WowX5 x5 you can meet Thrall in his throne hall in Orgrimmar — the central figure of the Horde storyline.
Thrall stands in Grommash Hold in the Valley of Wisdom, Orgrimmar. It is the endpoint of many Horde class and reputation quest chains.
Who is Thrall
Thrall is a Frostwolf orc, son of the fallen chieftain Durotan and Draka. As an infant he fell into the hands of the human Aedelas Blackmoore, commander of Durnholde Keep, who named him "Thrall" — slave — and raised him as a gladiator and weapon. Grown, Thrall escaped, found his people worn down in the post-war internment camps, and rekindled in the orcs the nearly lost bond with the elements — the path of the shaman and Farseer instead of the demonic fel corruption of the past.
Uniting the clans, Thrall forged a new Horde — no longer a tool of the Legion, but an alliance of peoples seeking freedom and honor. He took up the Doomhammer from the hands of Orgrim Doomhammer, his mentor and the previous Warchief.
The exodus to Kalimdor and the founding of Orgrimmar
Guided by the visions of the mysterious Prophet (Medivh), Thrall led the Horde across the Great Sea to Kalimdor. There the orcs, Darkspear trolls and the tauren who joined them held the line at Mount Hyjal against the Burning Legion. After the victory Thrall founded a homeland for the orcs — Durotar, named for his father — and its capital became Orgrimmar, the city named in memory of Orgrim Doomhammer.
In the Vanilla era Thrall rules from Orgrimmar, maintaining his alliance with Cairne Bloodhoof's tauren and the Darkspear trolls, along with an uneasy pact with Sylvanas's Forsaken.
