The Horde is a free union of peoples who were outcasts and found strength in one another. Freed from the Legion's corruption, the orcs under Thrall united with the tauren, trolls and Forsaken. In Vanilla a Horde player defends Orgrimmar.
Rebirth of the Horde
The old Horde was a tool of demons. The young chieftain Thrall, raised by humans yet unbroken, shattered his chains, cleansed the orcs of corruption and restored their shamanism. He led his people across the sea to Kalimdor and founded a new, free Horde of honor.

In the Vanilla era the Horde comprises four playable peoples, each with its own capital.
Ideals and Leaders
The new Horde rests not on corruption but on honor and freedom. Warchief Thrall rules from Orgrimmar, the wise Cairne Bloodhoof leads the tauren from Thunder Bluff, and the dark lady Sylvanas Windrunner rules the Forsaken, whose aims are far from always honest.
