Tabards in WoW Classic: Where to Get Each One
Tabards are the most visible cosmetic items in World of Warcraft Classic: a tabard is worn over your chest armor and instantly shows which guild, rank or army your character belongs to. The WoW x5 server runs patch 1.12.1 rules, so this page lists only tabards that really exist in this version of the game, with their sources and requirements.

◆What a tabard is and why you want one
A tabard has its own equipment slot (slot 19), separate from your cloak and chest piece. In 1.12.1 it has no armor and no stats, and the "wear a tabard to earn dungeon reputation" mechanic does not exist yet in Vanilla: it only arrives in later expansions. There is no transmogrification either, so a tabard is almost the only way to make your character recognisable without giving up stats.
There is still practical value. A shared guild tabard helps you spot your guildmates in raids and in world PvP, while rank and battleground tabards act as a visible service record. Read more about guilds in the guild guide, and see the full overview of cosmetic and novelty items in the fun items of WoW Classic hub.

How to get a tabard: every source in 1.12.1
- Guild Tabard. The guild leader creates the emblem once at the Guild Tabard Designer for 10 gold, and every later change costs another 10 gold. After that any member buys the tabard for 1 gold from a Tabard Vendor in Stormwind, Ironforge, Darnassus, Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff or Undercity. The tabard automatically shows your guild emblem.
- PvP rank tabards. At rank 1 of the honor system you unlock the Private's Tabard for the Alliance and the Scout's Tabard for the Horde, 1 gold each. At rank 6 you can buy Knight's Colors and Stone Guard's Herald for 4 gold. They are sold by the Officer Accessories Quartermasters in Stormwind's Champions' Hall and Orgrimmar's Hall of Legends. Learn how ranks work in the honor system article and the PvP rank rewards guide.
- Alterac Valley. The Stormpike Battle Tabard and the Frostwolf Battle Tabard cost 1 gold from the faction supply officers inside the valley and at its entrance. You need reputation with the faction, which is easiest to earn with the Alterac Valley guide.
- Warsong Gulch. The Silverwing Battle Tabard and the Warsong Battle Tabard cost 5 gold from the supply officers in Ashenvale and the Barrens. In 1.12 the vendor requires reputation with the Silverwing Sentinels or the Warsong Outriders.
- Arathi Basin. The Arathor Battle Tabard and the Battle Tabard of the Defilers are rewards for the level 60 quests "Control Five Bases" and "Take Five Bases". You can only wear them at Exalted with the League of Arathor or the Defilers.
- Tabard of the Argent Dawn arrived in patch 1.11 together with the Scourge Invasion. An Argent Dawn quest hands it out in exchange for 10 Necrotic Runes, so you can only get it while that event is running.
- Tabard of the Scarlet Crusade is also from 1.11. It has a low chance to drop from Scarlet Trainees that appear in the Armory of the Scarlet Monastery once Herod is defeated.

Tabard tips
- Battleground and rank tabards are soulbound. They bind when picked up, so you will never find them on the auction house — you have to earn them yourself.
- The Primal Hakkari Tabard is not a tabard. Despite the name, it is a Paragons of Power token from Zul'Gurub for paladins, shamans and druids: you hand it in for class armor instead of wearing it.
- Do not waste 10 gold. Agree on the emblem with your officers in advance: every change costs as much as the first design.
- Arathi Basin takes patience. Exalted is a long road; follow the reputation guides for the League of Arathor and the Defilers.
- Grab the Argent Dawn tabard right away. If the server runs the Scourge Invasion, collect runes during the event: once it ends, the quest is gone. General reputation tips are in the Argent Dawn reputation guide.
Want the complete look? Pair the tabard with a matching shirt: your sleeves stay visible under a tabard, and tailors sew plenty of shirts. See the WoW Classic shirts article.

FAQ
?Do tabards give stats in WoW Classic?
No. In 1.12.1 a tabard uses its own slot over your chest armor and gives no armor, no stats and no dungeon reputation. It is pure cosmetics and a sign of your guild or faction.
?How much does a guild tabard cost?
The tabard itself costs 1 gold from a Tabard Vendor in a capital city. Only the guild leader can create or change the guild emblem at the Guild Tabard Designer, which costs 10 gold.
?Where do I buy an Alterac Valley battle tabard?
The Stormpike Battle Tabard and the Frostwolf Battle Tabard cost 1 gold from the supply officers of each faction inside Alterac Valley and at its entrance in the Alterac Mountains. You need reputation with that faction.
?How do I get the Tabard of the Scarlet Crusade?
It was added in patch 1.11 and has a small chance to drop from Scarlet Trainees that appear in the Scarlet Monastery Armory after Herod dies. It binds when picked up, so it never shows up on the auction house.
