Shirts in WoW Classic: How to Sew, Buy and Loot Them
Shirts in World of Warcraft Classic are a quiet but much-loved cosmetic: a separate slot under your armor that gives no stats, yet changes your sleeves, your collar and your whole look in town. The WoW x5 server runs 1.12.1 rules, so this page only lists confirmed shirts from this version: tailored, vendor and rare ones.

◆What a shirt is and why you want one
A shirt uses equipment slot 4 and in 1.12.1 gives no armor and no stats — its tooltip shows nothing but the word "Shirt". Vanilla has no transmogrification and no appearance collection, so a shirt is one of the few ways to stand out without giving up power. You see it on your sleeves under light chest pieces, in the neckline of robes and, of course, when you take your armor off to relax at the inn. Together with tabards, shirts make up the core of a "city outfit" — see the fun items of WoW Classic hub.
Every new character starts the game in a class starter shirt. You can replace it within the first hours: the simplest shirts are sewn by any beginner tailor, and clothiers sell them for a few silver.

How to get a shirt: every method
- Sew it with Tailoring. Shirts are a classic way to level the skill: they are cheap and use bolts of cloth and dyes. The basic recipes (Brown and Red Linen, Gray Woolen, Stylish Red, Formal White, Orange Mageweave Shirt) come from trainers, the rest from patterns. The full profession path is in the tailoring guide and on the Tailoring profession page.
- Buy a pattern. The Black Swashbuckler's Shirt (skill 200) is sold by Narkk in Booty Bay — learn more about the town in the Booty Bay guide. The Tuxedo Shirt (240), Lavender (230) and Pink (235) Mageweave Shirts are sold by Outfitter Eric in Ironforge; for the Horde, Borya in Orgrimmar sells the Lavender and Pink patterns.
- Holiday. The Pattern: Green Holiday Shirt (skill 190) comes from the Smokywood Pastures gift during the Feast of Winter Veil.
- Buy from a vendor. Common Gray, Brown and White Shirts are sold by clothiers and light armor merchants for about 4 silver; the clothier Lisbeth Schneider in Stormwind also offers the Bold Yellow Shirt (40 silver) and the Stylish Black Shirt (60 silver).
- Loot or quest for it. Captain Sander's Shirt is a reward from the "Captain Sander's Hidden Treasure" chain in Westfall. The Master Builder's Shirt drops from Fineous Darkvire in Blackrock Depths.

Shirt tips
- The tuxedo is a set. The Tuxedo Shirt goes with Tuxedo Pants and the Tuxedo Jacket: the jacket has the fun line "Impress others with your fashion sense", but it gives no bonus at all. The pants and jacket patterns are separate.
- The Bloodsail Shirt is not a shirt. This piece of the pirate uniform goes into the chest slot; it is part of the Bloodsail Buccaneers reputation path.
- Sew for profit. Most tailored shirts do not bind, so rare colours sell well on the auction house. Farm the cloth with the cloth farming guide.
- Check your patterns. Many of them are listed in the tailoring patterns reference linked below.
Your shirt sleeves remain visible under a tabard — match the colour to your guild emblem. All 1.12.1 tabards are listed in the WoW Classic tabards article.

FAQ
?Do shirts give stats in WoW Classic?
No. In 1.12.1 a shirt uses its own slot and gives no armor and no stats. It is purely visual: you see it under light armor, on your sleeves and whenever your character takes off the chest piece.
?Where do I learn the Tuxedo Shirt pattern?
The pattern requires Tailoring 240. It is sold by tailoring supply vendors, for example Outfitter Eric in Ironforge for the Alliance and Millie Gregorian in Undercity for the Horde.
?Can I buy a shirt without Tailoring?
Yes. Common Gray, Brown and White Shirts are sold by clothiers and light armor merchants for about 4 silver, and tailored shirts often appear on the auction house because most of them do not bind.
?What is the rarest shirt in Vanilla?
One of the best known rarities is the Master Builder's Shirt: it has a small chance to drop from Fineous Darkvire in Blackrock Depths and binds when picked up.
