Shadowmoon Clan: cradle of orcish fel magic
Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ruThe Shadowmoon clan was a clan of shamans and seers that became the cradle of orcish warlockry. Its elder Ner'zhul first heard Kil'jaeden's deceitful call, and his apprentice Gul'dan turned the orcs into slaves of the fel.
Ner'zhul, the fallen seer
Ner'zhul was the greatest shaman of the Shadowmoon clan and spiritual leader of all orcs. The demon Kil'jaeden, taking the guise of a revered ancestor, convinced him the draenei were a threat and pushed the orcs toward war and dark power. When Ner'zhul suspected the deception and pulled back, his ambitious apprentice took his place.
Gul'dan and the Shadow Council
Gul'dan completed the people's fall: he founded the Shadow Council — a secret brotherhood of warlocks — and struck a pact with the Burning Legion. At his urging the orcs drank Mannoroth's blood. Thus the Shadowmoon clan gave the Horde its first warlocks and necrolytes.
Magic versus shamanism
The coming of fel magic severed the orcs' bond with the elements: the spirits turned from the corrupted people, and shamanism nearly died out for a generation. The revival of orc shamanism would later be led by Thrall, a descendant of chieftains untouched by the Shadow Council.
Legacy in WoW Classic
