Skeletons are the bone host of the Scourge: the reanimated remains of the fallen, stripped of flesh and almost of mind. Together with the ghouls they form the backbone of the undead infantry, but unlike ghouls, skeletons often keep the weapons and drill of their past life.
A skeleton does not tire, fear or retreat. It cannot be broken in spirit — only shattered in bone, and that is the only way to stop it.
Who are the skeletons
A skeleton is the bones of a warrior, peasant or mage raised by dark magic. The necromancers of the Scourge tear them from the earth by whole regiments: cheap, fast and near-endless, for any graveyard is a ready arsenal.
No flesh remains on a skeleton, and so there is no pain, no fatigue, no mercy. It fights exactly as long as its bones hold, then crumbles into dust.
Warriors and mages
The Scourge raises two kinds of skeletons. Skeleton warriors wield rusted swords, axes and shields, crushing the foe in melee by weight of numbers. Skeleton mages retained the gift of spellcraft in life and pelt the enemy with frost and shadow from range, shielded by the line of bone infantry. There are also bone archers and riders on skeletal steeds — the Scourge reshapes into undead every branch of arms the fallen once mastered in life.
