Sargeras was the warrior of the titan Pantheon — those who ordered worlds. His duty was to banish the demons of the Twisting Nether and protect young creation from the Old Gods.

Facing the endlessness of evil and treachery he saw even among defenders, Sargeras lost faith in the very design of an ordered universe. He reached a terrible conclusion: creation is corrupt at its root and must be destroyed.
Birth of the Burning Legion
Freeing imprisoned demons and corrupting the eredar people, Sargeras forged the Burning Legion — an armada that carries the fel from world to world. He set Kil'jaeden and Archimonde to command it.
A shadow over Azeroth
It was Sargeras' Legion that corrupted the orcs through Gul'dan and Ner'zhul, opened the Dark Portal and tried for ages to breach Azeroth. His will stands behind the Shadow Council and the fel cults.
Echoes in Vanilla
In the Vanilla era Sargeras is out of reach, but his legacy lives on: demons in Deadwind Pass, the corruption of the orc clans and the eternal Legion threat that the Cenarion Circle and Azeroth's wardens exist to oppose.
