Oozes are shapeless creatures of living acid and slime that crawl through the dark caves, marshes and blighted lands of Azeroth. Unlike the beasts and reptiles, an ooze is an aberration: not a beast, it cannot be tamed and cannot be skinned. It is immune to poison and burns everything it touches.
Some oozes split into several smaller ones when struck. Poisons are useless against oozes — rely on direct damage and do not let them surround you.
What oozes are
An ooze is a quivering mass of semi-transparent goo with no fixed form, lacking bones, eyes and limbs. It moves by flowing across the ground and "attacks" by engulfing its prey in corrosive acid. An ooze's color hints at its nature: green ones may be venomous, gray ones acidic, and those born of plague infected with undeath.
Oozes are spawned by stagnant magic, rot and contagion. Some arise in the depths of dungeons where dark energy has pooled, others in marshes and lands struck by the plague of undeath. Kindred slime creatures are also met in the waters of Azeroth among the sea creatures.

Tactics against oozes
Oozes call for a different approach than beasts. First, they are immune to poison, so rogues and other "poisoners" should lean on direct damage. Second, some oozes split into several smaller ones when struck — hit them carelessly in tight quarters and you can quickly be ringed in. Third, their attacks often reduce armor or deal nature damage, so a drawn-out fight is more dangerous than it seems.
Loot from oozes is peculiar: instead of hides they drop globs of slime, reagents and sometimes valuable inclusions — used in quests and crafting recipes.
