History of Tauren: The Peaceful Nomads of Mulgore

◆Children of the Earth Mother

Tauren worship the Earth Mother (Mu'sha and An'she being her Moon and Sun). Their culture is built on balance: they take only what they need from nature and honor ancestral spirits. Tauren druids and seers preserve ancient wisdom, while shamans speak with the elements.

◆The Endless War on Centaur

For ages the nomadic tauren tribes wandered Kalimdor, waging an endless war against the cruel centaur who slaughtered their herds and camps. Scattered, the tribes could not defeat the enemy alone.

◆Salvation by the Horde

Everything changed with the meeting of the new Horde. Thrall and his warriors helped the wise chieftain Cairne Bloodhoof drive back the centaur and unite the tribes. The grateful tauren founded a permanent home — Thunder Bluff, a city atop colossal mesas.

Honor and the Horde

Cairne saw kindred souls in the orcs — warriors who honor nature and the spirits. So the tauren became one of the Horde's most loyal members. Not all embrace this peace: the treacherous Magatha Grimtotem weaves her schemes, while the wise archdruid Hamuul Runetotem builds ties with the night elves. The tauren also played a role in the War of the Shifting Sands.
