How to Reach Refuge Pointe in WoW 1.12.1 (Arathi Highlands)
How to get to Refuge Pointe is the first question for any Alliance character who has outgrown the Wetlands and Hillsbrad Foothills. Refuge Pointe is the tent camp of the Stromgarde army in the center of the Arathi Highlands, the place from which the Alliance runs its whole war in this level 30–40 zone. Here is the route to the camp for both factions on the WoW x5 server (Vanilla 1.12.1).

◆Where Refuge Pointe is located
The camp sits in the central part of the Arathi Highlands on the Eastern Kingdoms continent, in a hollow by the cliffs, slightly off the main road. The recommended zone level is 30–40. After the Third War the capital of Stromgarde lies in ruins, most of its people fled south, and the remnants of the army took shelter here, gathering strength to retake Stromgarde Keep. Read more about the kingdom in the Stromgarde article.
Key landmarks around the camp: to the west lie Thoradin's Wall and the road to Hillsbrad, to the southwest the ruins of Stromgarde Keep, to the northwest Northfold Manor held by the Syndicate, to the south Thandol Span, and to the northeast the Horde outpost of Hammerfall.

How to get to Refuge Pointe as Alliance
The main walking route comes from the south, out of the Wetlands. You need to complete it at least once to discover the flight path.
- From Ironforge head east into Loch Modan. Stormwind players can reach Ironforge on the Deeprun Tram — see how to get to Ironforge.
- In Loch Modan follow the road north through the Dun Algaz pass into the Wetlands.
- Follow the Wetlands road north and northeast. At the fork turn toward Thandol Span — this leg is covered in detail in how to get to the Wetlands.
- One span of the bridge is destroyed, so use the intact one. Dun Modr with its Dark Iron dwarves stands nearby on the Wetlands side: do not linger.
- Past the bridge the Arathi Highlands begin. Stay on the road north, turn toward the camp at the signpost and speak to Gryphon Master Cedrik Prose.
Night elves can first sail from Auberdine to Menethil Harbor — see how to get to Menethil Harbor — and walk to the bridge from there. If Southshore is already discovered, fly there and follow the road east through Thoradin's Wall; the route to Southshore is described in how to get to Southshore.

◆How to reach Refuge Pointe as Horde
For the Horde the camp is enemy ground. Horde players enter the Arathi Highlands either from the west, from Tarren Mill through Thoradin's Wall, or by flying to Hammerfall — that route is described in how to get to Hammerfall. The main zone road passes not far from Refuge Pointe, so keep your distance from the camp while traveling east.
- The camp is protected by Alliance guards who attack Horde players on sight.
- On a PvP realm there are almost always Alliance players around: the battleground entrance and the zone quest givers are here.
- Raiding the camp is classic world PvP, but only go there with a group.
◆What Refuge Pointe offers
Refuge Pointe is more of a military camp than a town: it has only tents, campfires and awnings.
- Flight path — gryphons fly to Ironforge, Thelsamar, Menethil Harbor, Southshore and Aerie Peak in the Hinterlands.
- Quest givers — Captain Nials sends you against the Syndicate at Northfold Manor, while other Stromgarde soldiers send you after ogres, Witherbark trolls and into the ruins of Stromgarde Keep.
- Vendors — general goods from Vikki Lonsav, plus suppliers of crafting materials.
- Arathi Basin entrance — the Alliance gate with League of Arathor banners stands right in the camp.
- No innkeeper and no mailbox — bind your hearthstone in Southshore or Menethil Harbor.

◆What to do around Refuge Pointe
The camp is the main Alliance leveling hub for levels 30–40 in the northern Eastern Kingdoms. The quest order for the zone is collected in the Arathi Highlands leveling guide, and the general zone route in how to get to the Arathi Highlands. The ruins of Stromgarde Keep with the Syndicate and ogres are an open-world mini-dungeon with elite enemies, so go there in a group.
From level 20 you can queue for the battleground at the camp gate — details in how to get to Arathi Basin. The League of Arathor fights for the Alliance here and the Defilers of Hammerfall fight for the Horde, so skirmishes around the camp never really stop. The world PvP guide explains how to prepare for them.

Discover the flight path at Cedrik Prose as soon as you arrive: afterwards it is convenient to fly into Arathi from Menethil Harbor or Southshore, where you can bind your hearthstone. All connections are collected in the flight paths guide.
