How to Reach Westfall in WoW 1.12.1
How to get to Westfall is one of the first travel questions an Alliance character faces after level 10: this is where the Defias Brotherhood quest chain begins and where the entrance to the Deadmines dungeon lies. Westfall is a sun-scorched farmland west of Stormwind. Here are the routes for both factions on the WoW x5 server (Vanilla 1.12.1).

◆Where Westfall Is
Westfall lies in the southwest of the Eastern Kingdoms. Elwynn Forest borders it to the northeast and Duskwood to the east; to the west the zone opens onto the Great Sea, and in the south it runs into the mountains above Stranglethorn Vale. The recommended level is 10-20. Farms, mines and the history of the region are covered in the Westfall article.
Key landmarks: Sentinel Hill with its stone tower in the middle of the zone, the abandoned village of Moonbrook in the south, the Westfall Lighthouse on the coast and Jangolode Mine in the north.

How to Get to Westfall as Alliance
For the Alliance this zone is right next to the capital, and the trip takes only a few minutes.
- Leave Stormwind through the main gate into Elwynn Forest.
- Follow the road south to Goldshire, then take the road that leads west.
- The road crosses the river by a bridge on the zone border - Westfall begins on the other side.
- Keep following the road south past the farms to Sentinel Hill and talk to the flight master to discover the flight path.
Once the flight path is known, you can fly to Sentinel Hill by gryphon straight from Stormwind. Dwarves and gnomes reach Stormwind from Ironforge by the Deeprun Tram, and night elves by ship through Auberdine and Menethil Harbor. For convenience, set your hearthstone at the Sentinel Hill inn.
How to Get to Westfall as Horde
The Horde has no town and no flight path in Westfall, and the Sentinel Hill guards attack Horde players on sight. Horde characters come here mostly for world PvP and the odd trip to the Deadmines.
- Take the zeppelin from Orgrimmar or Undercity to Grom'gol Base Camp in Stranglethorn Vale and discover the flight path there.
- From Grom'gol, follow the main road north and cross the bridge over the gorge - this takes you into Duskwood.
- At the fork, turn west and stay on the road, giving Darkshire and its guards a wide berth.
- The road passes Raven Hill and crosses a bridge into eastern Westfall.
The first part of the trip is described step by step in our guide on how to get to Duskwood.
Where the Entrances Are and What to Watch For
- The main road from Elwynn Forest enters the zone in the northeast and runs south to Sentinel Hill, then on to Moonbrook.
- The bridge to Duskwood is on the eastern border of the zone, and the road beyond it leads to Raven Hill.
- The Deadmines dungeon is entered in Moonbrook, through the Defias Brotherhood hideout house and a mine tunnel. The full path to the portal is in the guide on how to get to the Deadmines.

Routes to Westfall: Summary Table
| Step | Alliance | Horde |
|---|---|---|
| Start | Stormwind | Orgrimmar or Undercity |
| Transport | On foot or by gryphon to Sentinel Hill | Zeppelin to Grom'gol Base Camp |
| On foot | Elwynn Forest, bridge to the west | Stranglethorn Vale, Duskwood |
| Closest flight path | Sentinel Hill | Grom'gol Base Camp |
Westfall has no flight path other than Sentinel Hill. If you are questing in the south of the zone around Moonbrook, a hearthstone set at Sentinel Hill saves the most time.
◆Why Go to Westfall
The main reason is the Defias Brotherhood storyline, which leads the player into the Deadmines; its steps are covered in the Defias Brotherhood quest chain guide. Zone quests in level order are listed in the Westfall leveling guide, and dungeon tactics are in the Deadmines guide. To move faster between the southern zones, read the flight paths guide and the world travel guide.
