The Barrens is the legendary Horde zone in Kalimdor, for levels 10–30. No other zone in WoW Classic carries as much nostalgia and internet culture. This is where guilds were formed, raids were organized, and the best Horde stories were born.

What Makes The Barrens Special
A vast, arid savanna in central Kalimdor. The Barrens is famous for:

The Crossroads
The main Horde outpost in the center of The Barrens. Most 10–25 players pick up quests here. Trainers, craftsmen, inn. The Crossroads
Ratchet
Neutral port city on the western coast. The only place in The Barrens where Alliance and Horde can meet peacefully. Features a neutral Auction House, craftsmen, and vendors. Ships from Ratchet sail to Booty Bay. Ratchet
Silverpine Mines
Quest chain through the silver mines — for players 15–20.
Warmaster Location
Southern city near the coast. Tied to 25–30 quests and ZG events.
Watering Hole Plateau
Central wasteland with quests on peaceful animals and rare mobs for collectibles.
Leveling in The Barrens
Levels 10–20
1. Grab all quests at The Crossroads — there are 15+ there. 2. Clear the Silverpine Mines and surroundings. 3. Complete the Chief Nokuda chain — lots of experience. 4. The "Guardian Throw" quest — scouting the eastern parts of the zone.
Levels 20–30
1. Move to Ratchet — new quests available there. 2. The "Clouds on the Horizon" chain leads to Northern Kalimdor. 3. Clear Wailing Caverns (30+ dungeon in the southern part). 4. Quests at Warmaster location — zone finale before moving to Thousand Needles.

Zone Tips
- The Barrens is a large zone — a mount greatly speeds up travel.
- Barrens Chat traditionally has a lot of off-topic discussion — disable zone chat if it bothers you.
- Don't miss the "Messenger" quest chain — it leads to blue item quests for your class.
- Ratchet is a good intermediate Auction House if you don't have access to Orgrimmar.
