Mount Hyjal

A sacred summit
After the Sundering of the world, the three Dragon Aspects raised the World Tree upon Hyjal above a new font of magic. The mountain became the heart of the night elves: here their druids were bound to the Emerald Dream, and the place itself was warded from outsiders.
The last stand
In the finale of the Third War the demon Archimonde led the Legion toward Hyjal to consume the power of Nordrassil and gain immortality. The night elves, led by their heroes, together with the orcs and the humans of the Alliance, held the slopes to the last.
The fall of Archimonde
When Archimonde reached the foot of the Tree, Tyrande Whisperwind and the keepers of the grove summoned the spirits of nature — thousands of wisps swarmed the demon and detonated, immolating the lord of the Legion. The Legion was broken, but Nordrassil paid a heavy price.
