Kingdoms of Azeroth

Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ru

The Kingdoms of Azeroth are the nations of humanity and their allies whose history shaped the whole of the Eastern Kingdoms. Almost all of them grew out of the ancient empire of Arathor, then united into the Alliance of Lordaeron to repel the Horde and the Burning Legion. This section chronicles the seven human kingdoms and the allied elven realm of Quel'Thalas.

The legacy of Arathor

Every human nation shares one root — the empire of Arathor, whose capital Strom stood in the Arathi Highlands. When the empire fractured, its lands split into independent kingdoms: Stormwind, Lordaeron, Kul Tiras, Gilneas, Alterac, Stromgarde and the mage city of Dalaran. Each went its own way, yet the blood of Arathor ran through them all.

An age of war and Alliance

When the orcs poured through the Dark Portal, Stormwind fell first in the First War. Refugees led by Anduin Lothar fled north, and King Terenas of Lordaeron gathered the Alliance of Lordaeron — a union of every kingdom, the dwarves, the gnomes and the high elves. Together they won the Second War.

Why it matters in Vanilla

The history of these kingdoms is not dust — it is the stage you play on. The Plaguelands were the breadbasket of fallen Lordaeron, Tirisfal Glades hold its ruins, and war still rages in the Alterac Mountains. Knowing the lore changes how you see every broken castle and every faction such as the Argent Dawn or the Syndicate.

FAQ

How many human kingdoms were there in Warcraft?

Classically there were seven human kingdoms descended from the Arathorian empire: Stormwind (Azeroth), Lordaeron, Kul Tiras, Gilneas, Alterac, Stromgarde and the mage city-state of Dalaran. The allied elven realm of Quel'Thalas stood beside them.

Which kingdoms survived into WoW Classic?

By the Vanilla era only Stormwind still thrives as the Alliance capital. Lordaeron and Dalaran lie in ruins after the Third War, Alterac is dissolved, Stromgarde is shattered, Gilneas is sealed behind the Greymane Wall, Kul Tiras has withdrawn, and Quel'Thalas was ravaged by the Scourge.

Where can I see the fallen kingdoms in game?

The ruined capital of Lordaeron stands in [Tirisfal Glades](/en/wiki/tirisfal-glades) (with the Undercity beneath it), the shattered dome of Dalaran looms in [Silverpine](/en/wiki/silverpine-forest), and the wreck of Stromgarde towers over [Arathi](/en/wiki/arathi-highlands) — living history right on the WoW Classic map.
