Unpacking
1. Download the archive (.zip or .rar) 2. Unpack it to any convenient folder, for example C:\WoW\ 3. Do not install into Program Files — this can cause permission problems
Step 3: Realmlist setup
This is the most important step — we point the client to our server address.
Windows
1. Open the game folder (for example C:\WoW\) 2. Go to Data\enUS\ (or Data\ruRU\ for Russian) 3. Find the file realmlist.wtf 4. Right-click → "Open with" → "Notepad" 5. Delete everything and paste: `` set realmlist wowx5.ru `` 6. File → Save (Ctrl+S) 7. Close Notepad
Mac
1. Open the game folder 2. Go to Data/enUS/ or Data/ruRU/ 3. Open realmlist.wtf in TextEdit 4. Paste: set realmlist wowx5.ru 5. Save
Make sure the file is saved as plain text (extension .wtf, not .wtf.txt). If Windows added .txt, rename the file and remove the extra extension.
Step 4: Launch and login
1. Run WoW.exe (as administrator on Windows 10/11) 2. On the login screen:
- Account name: your wowx5.ru login
- Password: your password
3. Click "Login" 4. In the realm list select WoW x5 5. Pick a character or create a new one
Troubleshooting
The client will not launch

If your antivirus blocks WoW.exe — add the game folder to the antivirus exclusions. WoW 1.12.1 is sometimes falsely flagged as a threat because of its age.
Lag and high ping
- Make sure WoW is not downloading updates in the background (it does not, but other programs might)
- Close torrents and streaming services while playing
- The WoW x5 server is located in Russia — optimal ping for CIS players
