Can't Log In with Your WoW Account: Fixing Login Errors
Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ruThe client says «incorrect password» or won't accept your login? In 9 cases out of 10 it is case, layout or the account being created in the wrong place. Let's check in order.
Step 1: case and layout
The WoW password is case sensitive. The most common causes of «incorrect password»:
- Caps Lock is on;
- wrong keyboard layout;
- an extra space at the start or end.
Type the password in a notepad, confirm it is right, and copy it into the field.
Step 2: correct registration
The account for logging into the game is created on the wowx5.ru registration page. The login you set there is what you type in the WoW client.
| Requirement | Value |
|---|---|
| Login length | 3–16 characters |
| Allowed characters | Latin, digits, _ |
| Password | Case sensitive |
If you haven't registered yet — see the registration guide.
Step 3: check the realmlist
Sometimes «login fails» means the client is hitting the wrong server. Open realmlist.wtf and make sure it reads:
`` set realmlist play.wowx5.ru ``
More in the realmlist guide.
Step 4: clear the login cache
Stale login data can interfere. Close the game and delete the WTF/Account folder (or the whole Cache). The client will re-request the login.
Step 5: recover access
Forgot the password — use the recovery on the site. If the account is closed («This account has been closed») — contact project support via Discord.
FAQ
WoW says «incorrect password» though I type it right. Why?
The WoW password is case sensitive — check Caps Lock and your keyboard layout. Also make sure the account was created on our site wowx5.ru via the registration page, not somewhere else.
Where do I register an account to log into the game?
On the wowx5.ru registration page. The game account login is what you type into WoW. The name is 3–16 characters of Latin letters, digits and underscore.
I definitely type the right details but login fails. What else to check?
