Cartographer: advanced map in WoW Classic x5
Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ruCartographer is a modular add-on that turns Classic's basic map into a powerful navigation tool. Coordinates, personal notes, dungeon maps and a semi-transparent map over the screen make finding your way around Azeroth fast and convenient.
What Cartographer improves
The add-on is built from modules — enable what you need:
- Coordinates — player and cursor coordinates
- Notes — your own map markers (farm, entrances, meetups)
- InstanceMaps / InstanceLoot — dungeon maps and loot
- LookNFeel — semi-transparent full map over the screen
- Waypoints — a direction line to a chosen point
Installation and setup
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Download Cartographer for 1.12.1, unpack into Interface/AddOns/ |
| 2 | Enable Cartographer and its modules in the selection menu |
| 3 | Open the map with M — you'll see coordinates and a module panel |

Enable the semi-transparent overlay map: you can run and read your route at the same time without fully blocking your view.
Navigation and farming on x5
On an accelerated server you move between zones a lot and farm materials. Cartographer helps you:
- Place farm-spot markers and share coordinates in chat
- Quickly find dungeon entrances and quest NPCs
- Build a route across several points with notes
Pair it with Gatherer for resource tracking and with farming routes for efficient gathering.
Cartographer and performance
Modularity is Cartographer's strength: switch off what you don't use. Heavy modules (loot maps, many notes) can be disabled, leaving only Coordinates and Waypoints. Build a comfortable interface with UI setup.
In Classic it helps to dictate coordinates as "x, y" — allies can then find the spot fast via their own Cartographer or the built-in map.

FAQ
What does Cartographer do?
Cartographer improves the world map and minimap: it adds coordinates, notes, dungeon maps, a semi-transparent full map over the screen and direction lines to your target through a set of modules.
Does Cartographer show coordinates?
Yes, the Coordinates module shows your position and the cursor coordinates. That's handy for farming, finding NPCs and sharing spots with friends in chat.
Can I place my own markers on the map?
Yes, the Notes module lets you create personal map notes — mark a farm spot, a dungeon entrance or a group meeting point.
Does Cartographer replace Gatherer?
No, they complement each other: Cartographer improves the map and coordinates, while Gatherer separately tracks a database of herb, ore and skinning spots.
