Weaponsmith in WoW Classic: Swords, Axes, Maces

Weaponsmith is the second Blacksmithing specialization. It unlocks exclusive weapon plans and, at high skill, splits into three sub-paths. It is the pick for players who want to forge unique swords, axes or maces.

How to get the specialization

Requirement: 200 Blacksmithing skill.
Trainer: Ironus Coldsteel in Ironforge.
Take the Weaponsmith quest. Once chosen, Armorsmith recipes are unavailable until you re-specialize.

Weaponsmith sub-specializations (from 250 skill)

At 250 skill the Weaponsmith picks one of three narrow schools. Each has its own master trainer and its own exclusive plans:

Sub-specialization	Weapon type
Swordsmith	One- and two-handed swords
Axesmith	One- and two-handed axes
Hammersmith	One- and two-handed maces

Only one school is active at a time. You can switch at another master for gold, relearning the plans.

Pros

Exclusive high-level weapons, some strong into raid phases.
Gold income: rare crafted weapons sell well on the auction house.
Class fit: Swordsmith for a sword warrior, Axesmith for an orc warrior (racial axe bonus), etc.

Cons

Narrow niche: value only from the chosen weapon type.
Requires 250 skill and investment in the sub-path.

How to choose a sub-specialization

Look at your class and build's weapons. A fury warrior dual-wielding swords → Swordsmith; an orc with axes → Axesmith.
Consider racial bonuses (orcs — axes, etc.).
Remember it is reversible — you can switch schools.
