Professions
Skinning in WoW Classic
Skinning is a WoW Classic gathering profession. On WoW Classic X5 (1.12.1, x5 rates) it's the fastest way to supply leather for Leatherworking or earn gold.
Why Level Skinning
- Primary leather source for the Leatherworking profession
- Steady income: Rugged Leather, Devilsaur Leather, Dragon Scales always sell high
- Levels automatically while questing — no gold investment required
Leveling 1–300
Skin beasts and reptiles matching your current level:
| Range | Zone / Mob | Leather |
|---|---|---|
| 1–100 | Elwynn Forest, Durotar (small beasts) | Light Leather |
| 100–175 | Hillsbrad, Wetlands (bears, crocs) | Medium Leather |
| 175–230 | STV, Feralas (cats, raptors) | Heavy Leather |
| 230–280 | Tanaris, Un'Goro (dinosaurs) | Thick Leather |
| 280–300 | Winterspring, EPL (bears, wyverns) | Rugged Leather |
On x5 each zone progresses much faster — Skinning 1–300 takes 3–5 hours.
Best Farm Routes
Devilsaur Leather (Un'Goro Crater): Devilsaurs are massive dinosaurs in Un'Goro. Their leather crafts Devilsaur Leggings + Gauntlets — pre-raid BiS for hunters. Demand is constant, prices are high. Route: around the crater perimeter counter-clockwise.
Rugged Leather (Winterspring): Ice Thistle Yetis, Cobalt Wyrmkin in Winterspring — excellent Rugged Leather farm.
Dragon Scales (various zones): Black Dragonscale (LBRS/BRS), Blue Dragonscale (Azshara) — for Dragonscale Leatherworking.
◆Skinning + Leatherworking
On x5 this is the best self-sufficient combo: farm leather 5× faster than normal and spend almost nothing on Leatherworking materials.
