Why Level Fishing

  • Raw Nightfin Snapper → Nightfin Soup (+8 mana per 5 sec) for casters
  • Stonescale Eel → Stonescale Oil → Flask of the Titans (+1200 max health for 2 hours)
  • Raw Spotted Yellowtail → Cooking food

use your best pole — from the Big Iron Fishing Pole (+20) to the Arcanite Fishing Pole (+35), compared in the fishing poles hub. Lures — Shiny Bauble (+25), Nightcrawlers (+50), Bright Baubles (+75), Aquadynamic Fish Attractor (+100 for 5 min) — reduce lost catches; see fishing lures and fishing gear.

Best Farm Spots

Raw Nightfin Snapper: Feralas, Azshara, Moonglade.

Stonescale Eel: mostly from Stonescale Eel swarms along the coasts of Azshara, Feralas, Tanaris and Stranglethorn — see fishing pools.

Oily Blackmouth / Firefin Snapper: Westfall and Hillsbrad coastal waters — always wanted by alchemists.

Fishing Tournament

Once a week Stranglethorn Vale hosts a tournament: the first player to hand 40 Speckled Tastyfish to Riggle Bassbait in Booty Bay chooses the Arcanite Fishing Pole or the Hook of the Master Angler. Details: Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza.

Fish feeds the best raid food: Nightfin Snapper becomes Nightfin Soup (+8 mana per 5 sec), Winter Squid becomes Grilled Squid (+10 Agility). Alchemists turn Stonescale Eel into oil for Flask of the Titans.

How fast to level Fishing on x5?

Fishing skill rises with each successful catch and x5 rates do not speed it up, but your character reaches high-level zones sooner. Keep a lure and your best pole on to reduce lost catches.
