At skill 200 you choose a specialization:

Gnomish Engineering — scientific inventions: Gnomish Battle Chicken, Death Ray, Mind Control Cap
Goblin Engineering — explosives: Goblin Sapper Charge, Rocket Launcher, Jumper Cables

Head:

Gnomish Battle Goggles / Goblin Construction Helmet — BiS goggles for many classes

Consumables (used in combat):

Goblin Sapper Charge — ~600 AoE damage (hurts you too, damages all enemies)
Dense Dynamite — reliable ranged damage with no class cooldown
Thorium Grenade — AoE stun, invaluable in PvP
Gnomish Battle Chicken — summons chicken with chance to give raid +5% attack speed

Utility:

Goblin Jumper Cables XL — 50% chance to resurrect an ally
Goblin Rocket Boots — movement speed boost (may explode — that's part of the fun)

Engineering in PvP

On x5 with fast farming you can maintain a bomb stockpile for all PvP sessions. Thorium Grenade in Battlegrounds nearly guarantees a stun and kill.
