Scrolling Combat Text (SCT) shows floating damage and heal numbers right at your character, and SCTD shows incoming damage. You read the fight without watching the combat log. On the WowX5 x5 server it's handy for farming and PvP: crits, procs and low mana are instantly visible.
What Scrolling Combat Text (SCT) does
- Outgoing damage and healing — large floating numbers near your character.
- Incoming damage (SCTD) — how much and from whom you're taking.
- Crits stand out by size and color — good hits are obvious.
- Notifications — ability procs, cooldown ready, low mana/health, combo points.
- Animation tuning — direction, speed and style of the numbers.
Healers should show only their own healing and incoming damage on the target — otherwise the flood of others' numbers clutters the raid screen.
Installing Scrolling Combat Text (SCT)
