# WoW Classic All-Class PvE Rotations: Ability Priority Hub

A rotation in WoW Classic is a priority system: at each moment you press the most valuable available ability, not a memorized chain. Below are links to each class's detailed PvE rotation on the WoW Classic X5 server (patch 1.12.1).

General Rotation Principles

  • Priority, not sequence. Keep a priority list in mind and always pick the top available ability.
  • Uptime beats the 'perfect' cast. Continuous damage/healing with no idle time beats rare flashy combos.
  • Keep buffs and DoTs up. Slice and Dice, Corruption, Serpent Sting, Rejuvenation — a dropped buff/DoT hurts more than one missed cast.
  • Manage your resource. Rage, energy, mana — don't let them cap (waste) or bottom out (idle).
  • Threat. Open after the tank and use drops (Feign Death, Fade, Ice Block, Soulshatter).

Rotation Addons

  • Quartz / energy timers — cast bar and timing for hunter weaving and druid powershifting.
  • Omen / KTM (KLH Threat Meter) — threat meter so you don't overtake the tank.
  • Decursive / CT_RaidAssist — fast healing and decursing for healers.
  • Weapon Swing Timer — auto-attack timing for warrior/rogue/hunter.

FAQ

How does a rotation differ from ability priority?

In Vanilla almost every class plays by priority: a 'what matters most' list instead of a rigid chain. You press the top available ability from the list.

Do I need addons for the rotation?

Not required, but they help a lot: cast timers for hunter weaving, a threat meter against aggro, an energy tracker for druids.

Which class is easiest to start with in PvE?

Mage (Frostbolt spam) and warlock (DoTs + Shadow Bolt) are easiest. Hunter (weaving) and Feral druid (powershifting) are harder.
