Hunter PvE Rotation: Ability Priority and Cooldowns
Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ru# Hunter PvE Rotation: Ability Priority and Cooldowns
A correct hunter rotation is not a memorized sequence but a priority system: you pick the most valuable available ability at each moment. Below is a working PvE scheme for the WoW Classic X5 server (x5 rates, patch 1.12.1).
Role and Spec
The hunter is a steady ranged DPS. The top raid build is Marksmanship, often built around Auto Shot weaving. Beast Mastery is simpler and great while leveling.
Ability Priority
| # | Ability | When to use |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Auto Shot | Your damage core — NEVER clip its shots ('weaving'). |
| 2 | Aimed Shot | Weave between auto shots without clipping them. |
| 3 | Multi-Shot | On cooldown, also without clipping the auto shot. |
| 4 | Serpent Sting | Keep the DoT on the boss. |
| 5 | Feign Death | Drop aggro when your threat spikes. |
Opener (Pull)
Opener: pre-pull Hunter's Mark, Trueshot Aura, Aspect of the Hawk, pet on target. Start: Auto Shot → Aimed Shot (auto in flight) → Rapid Fire → Multi-Shot. Hold 8–35 yard range to shoot.
Cooldowns and Consumables
Rapid Fire (+40% attack speed), mana potions, trinkets. Stay in Aspect of the Hawk, not Monkey. Pet abilities (Claw/Bite) on autocast in attack mode. There is no Aspect of the Viper in Vanilla — save mana with downranks.
Common Mistakes
The main mistake is clipping the Auto Shot with special shots — it wrecks your damage core. Don't stand inside 8 yards (dead zone), keep Serpent Sting up, and Feign Death on threat.

FAQ
What is hunter weaving?
Weaving fits special shots (Aimed/Multi) between auto shots so their cast is never interrupted. Proper weaving is your main damage source.
Marksmanship or Beast Mastery for raids?
Marksmanship deals more raid damage. Beast Mastery is easier to play and better while leveling and in PvP.
What do I do on a threat spike?
Feign Death to drop aggro. Watch the threat meter (Omen/KTM) and never open before the tank.
