Rogue PvE Rotation: Ability Priority and Cooldowns
Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ru# Rogue PvE Rotation: Ability Priority and Cooldowns
A correct rogue rotation is not a memorized sequence but a priority system: you pick the most valuable available ability at each moment. Below is a working PvE scheme for the WoW Classic X5 server (x5 rates, patch 1.12.1).
Role and Spec
The rogue is a top melee physical DPS. The raid build is Combat with swords (daggers less often). The key to the rotation is keeping Slice and Dice up and spending combo points.
Ability Priority
| # | Ability | When to use |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Slice and Dice | ALWAYS keep the buff active — it boosts your auto-attack damage. |
| 2 | Sinister Strike | Main combo-point generator (for swords). |
| 3 | Eviscerate | 5-point finisher once Slice and Dice is already up. |
| 4 | Expose Armor | Sometimes — if nobody else provides the armor debuff. |
| 5 | Blade Flurry | On cooldown during your burst window. |
Opener (Pull)
Opener (swords): from Stealth — Cheap Shot/Garrote → build with Sinister Strike → Slice and Dice (2–3 points) → build again → Eviscerate / refresh SnD. Daggers: Ambush from stealth → Backstab priority.
Cooldowns and Consumables
Adrenaline Rush (energy), Blade Flurry (+attack speed), Thistle Tea (instant energy), trinkets and potions (a Strength/Berserker potion, not Mighty Rage). Keep poisons on your weapons (Instant/Deadly Poison).
Common Mistakes
Never let Slice and Dice drop — losing the buff slashes your damage. Don't spend combo points on Eviscerate if SnD is about to expire. Keep poisons and sharpening stones current.

FAQ
Combat or Assassination for raids?
In Vanilla raids the best build is Combat Swords. Daggers (Backstab) burst hard but require a behind-the-target position and are less consistent.
How do I keep Slice and Dice up?
Refresh it at 4–5 combo points before it expires. It is priority #1 — the buff is your biggest auto-attack gain.
Which poisons should a rogue use?
Instant Poison on the main hand for damage, Deadly Poison as a debuff DoT. Instant Poison usually goes on the faster weapon.
