Shadow Priest — build, talents and rotation
The shadow priest is the priest's shadow DPS spec with strong solo potential and raid utility. Shadowform, Mind Flay and Shadow Word: Pain give steady damage, while Shadow Weaving and Vampiric Embrace make the priest valuable in a group. In raids one shadow priest is usually taken for the debuff and the healing from damage, but for PvP and leveling it is a self-sufficient spec.
In a raid one shadow priest keeps the Shadow Weaving debuff up and heals the group with Vampiric Embrace — your damage returns health to the party. Even if the DPS isn't top, this utility earns the group slot.

What this build is for
Shadow is about damage and support:
- Solo and leveling — Vampiric Embrace and Vampiric Touch give self-healing and mana return.
- PvP — DoT pressure, Silence, fear and Mind Flay at range.
- Raids — Shadow Weaving (shadow vulnerability) and group healing, usually one taken.
The downside is pure DPS trailing mages and warlocks, but its utility and survivability are irreplaceable.

Shadowform boosts shadow damage but blocks healing spells — it is a pure DPS mode.
Rotation and play
Enter Shadowform, apply Shadow Word: Pain, add Vampiric Touch style for mana, then alternate Mind Blast and Mind Flay.
In PvP use Silence and fear for control, and keep DoTs on multiple targets. The full cast priority is in the priest rotation, buttons in priest macros.
Stats and gear
Priority: spell power → hit to the cap → crit → spirit. Hit matters for reliable DoTs, spirit for mana regen outside Shadowform.
