Shaman Talents WoW Classic: Enhancement, Elemental and Restoration Builds
Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ru# Shaman Talents WoW Classic
The shaman in WoW Classic is a unique hybrid class available to the Horde only (orcs, trolls, tauren). It can fill three completely different roles: melee DPS and buffer, caster DPS, or raid healer. The shaman's core value lies in totems, which buff the entire five-person party. On the WoW Classic X5 server, the right talent choice decides whether you become indispensable in a raid or sit on the bench.
Talent Tree Overview
| Tree | Role | Use case |
|---|---|---|
| Enhancement | Melee DPS + buffer | Melee groups in raids, Windfury Totem, PvP |
| Elemental | Caster DPS | Raids, steady ranged damage, PvP bursts |
| Restoration | Raid healer | Chain Heal, the Horde's premier healer |
Build #1: Enhancement (30/21/0)
A hybrid melee DPS and buffer for melee groups.
The Enhancement shaman stands in a party with warriors and feral druids, drops the Windfury Totem, and deals damage with a two-handed or dual-wielded weapon. Its greatest value is not personal DPS but the buff it brings to the whole group.
Key talents
Enhancement (30 points):
- Ancestral Knowledge 5/5 — +5% maximum mana
- Flurry 5/5 — +30% attack speed after a crit (core DPS talent)
- Dual Wield 1/1 and Dual Wield Specialization 5/5 — fight with two weapons, +5% hit
- Weapon Mastery 5/5 — +10% weapon damage
- Elemental Weapons 3/3 — strengthens Windfury and weapon enchants
- Parry 1/1 — a chance to parry
Elemental (21 points):
- Convection 5/5 — lowers the cost of Shock and Lightning spells
- Concussion 5/5 — +5% Shock and Lightning damage
- Call of Flame 3/3 on the way to Elemental Fury for hard-hitting Shocks
Windfury Weapon and Windfury Totem are not the same thing. The weapon enchant applies to your own weapon, while the totem buffs the entire melee party. An Enhancement shaman can raise warrior damage by tens of percent, which is why they always sit in the melee cluster.
Build #2: Elemental (30/0/21)
A caster DPS with both single-target and area damage.
The Elemental shaman casts Lightning Bolt at a single target and Chain Lightning into packs. Steady ranged damage and strong bursts make it useful in raids and in PvP alike.
Key talents
Elemental (deep, 30+):
- Convection 5/5 — cheaper casts
- Concussion 5/5 — +5% Lightning and Shock damage
- Elemental Focus 1/1 — Clearcasting: a chance your next cast is free
- Elemental Fury 1/1 — +100% crit multiplier (crits deal double damage, a key talent)
- Lightning Mastery 5/5 — −0.5 sec cast time on Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning
- Call of Thunder 5/5 — +crit chance for Lightning spells
Restoration (21 points):
- Tidal Focus 5/5 — cheaper heals
- Totemic Focus 5/5 — cheaper totems
Elemental Focus (Clearcasting) combined with Elemental Fury is the foundation of Elemental damage. An Elemental Fury crit deals double damage instead of the standard +50%, which sharply raises average DPS at a good crit rate.
Build #3: Restoration (0/5/46)
The Horde's premier raid healer. Chain Heal is the king of AoE healing.
The Restoration shaman is the most sought-after shaman spec in raids. Its Chain Heal bounces between wounded targets, healing several players with a single cast — invaluable in the chaos of MC, BWL and AQ40.
Key talents
Restoration (46 points):
- Tidal Focus 5/5 — −5% cost of healing spells
- Healing Focus 5/5 — lowers the chance your heal is interrupted
- Totemic Focus 5/5 — cheaper totems
- Nature's Swiftness 1/1 — makes your next Nature spell instant cast (a group saver)
- Healing Grace 3/3 — reduces threat and the chance to be dispelled
- Purification 5/5 — +10% healing effectiveness
- Tidal Mastery 5/5 — +crit for heals and Lightning
Enhancement (5 points):
- Ancestral Knowledge 5/5 — +5% mana for longer fights
Nature's Swiftness + a max-rank Healing Wave = an instant, powerful heal at a critical moment. It is the best "panic button" a Vanilla healer has — save it for the tank during damage spikes.
The Role of Totems
Totems are what make the shaman unique. They cover four elements and affect the party within a radius:
- Windfury Totem (Air) — a chance for an extra weapon attack for the melee party; the main Enhancement buff
- Grace of Air Totem (Air) — +agility for the whole party
- Mana Spring Totem (Water) — mana regen for casters and healers
- Healing Stream Totem (Water) — weak but constant AoE healing
- Strength of Earth Totem (Earth) — +strength for melee
- Tremor Totem (Earth) — removes fear/sleep/charm, critical in PvP and on bosses
Raids usually place shamans across groups so Windfury reaches the melee while Mana Spring and Grace of Air reach the casters. Smart totem placement matters more than the shaman's own DPS.
Build Comparison
| Role | Tree | Purpose | Point split |
|---|---|---|---|
| Melee buffer | Enhancement | Windfury for melee groups, own damage | 30/21/0 |
| Caster DPS | Elemental | Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, bursts | 30/0/21 |
| Raid healer | Restoration | Chain Heal, group saves | 0/5/46 |
Tips for WoW Classic X5
1. On x5 rates leveling is fast — many level as Enhancement (Windfury plus a weapon shreds mobs) and respec to Restoration before raiding. 2. Restoration is almost always needed — Chain Heal makes the shaman the Horde's top healer, and it is hard to fill a raid roster without one. 3. Elemental shines when the raid already has enough healers and melee buffers, since it provides pure ranged damage. 4. In PvP, both Elemental (Lightning burst plus Frost Shock kiting) and Enhancement (Windfury crits with a two-hander) are strong. Keep a Tremor Totem up against warlocks and priests. 5. Not the Alliance: remember the shaman is Horde-only — it is your unique edge in raids and on the battlefield.

FAQ
Which talent tree is best for raiding — Enhancement, Elemental or Restoration?
In raids, shamans are most often brought as Restoration for Chain Heal, the best AoE healing in the game. Enhancement is valued as a melee buffer with Windfury Totem, and Elemental provides steady caster damage. A balanced raid wants all three roles, but Restoration and Enhancement take priority.
Why does the Alliance not have shamans?
In WoW Classic 1.12.1 the shaman is a Horde-only class (orcs, trolls, tauren). The Alliance counterpart buffer is the paladin. That is why Windfury Totem is a unique advantage of Horde raids.
How many talent points does a shaman have at level 60?
51 talent points at level 60, spread across three trees — Enhancement, Elemental and Restoration.
