Survival Hunter — Build, Talents & PvP
Survival Hunter is the spec about control, traps and melee. As pure raid DPS it trails Marksmanship, but nearly every hunter dips into Survival for Lightning Reflexes (agility) and hit. Survival's real niche is PvP: trap mastery, melee weaving and control make the hunter dangerous up close, exactly where a ranged shooter is usually helpless.
Survival covers the hunter's dead zone. Break distance with Frost/Explosive Trap and Distracting Shot, and when an enemy is on top of you fight with Wing Clip and Counterattack instead of helplessly running.

Lightning Reflexes gives +agility, Trap Mastery boosts control, Counterattack and Wing Clip are melee tools.
Rotation and play
In PvP: control distance with traps and Distracting Shot, shoot at range, and in melee use Wing Clip + Counterattack and Concussive Shot. In PvE weave shots like a Marksman but with lower sustained damage. Templates are in hunter macros and hunter rotation.
Stats and gear
Priority: attack power → ranged hit cap → agility/crit → intellect (mana); in PvP health pool and agility for dodge gain value. Gear in pre-raid BiS hunter, formulas in character stats.
