Subtlety Rogue is the PvP spec about stealth, burst from the shadows and control. In PvE the top of the meter belongs to combat swords; Subtlety shines in duels, ganks and battlegrounds: surprise openers, heavy burst and the unique Preparation that resets cooldowns for a second go.
Preparation is the heart of the spec: it instantly resets Stealth, Evasion, Sprint and Cold Blood cooldowns. Hold it as a trump card for a second burst or an escape — good timing wins the duel.

Cold Blood guarantees an opener crit, Preparation doubles your cooldown pool, Ghostly Strike adds dodge and damage.
Rotation and play
Open from stealth with Backstab (or Cheap Shot to stun), build combo points with finishers' setup, apply Rupture and finish with Eviscerate. Under pressure use Evasion/Vanish; for a second burst use Preparation. Combos are in rogue macros and the rogue PvP guide.
Stats and gear
PvP priority: agility → attack power/crit → hit → health pool. In PvP resilience-style survival and HP matter more than a DPS cap. Gear in pre-raid BiS rogue, damage/crit formulas in character stats.
