Faction breakdown

Alliance

On Alliance the top PvE rogue is the Human: Sword Specialization (+5 skill) — and swords (e.g. Chromatic/Brutality Blade) are the Combat BiS, nearly closing the hit cap. For PvP the Gnome is great (Escape Artist breaks roots/snares) and the Night Elf (Shadowmeld).

Horde

On Horde the leader is the Orc: Blood Fury (attack-power burst for openers/cooldowns) and Hardiness (−25% stun) — ideal for a Combat/sword build. The Undead is invaluable in PvP (Will of the Forsaken vs fear/sleep/charm), the Troll brings Berserking.
