Destruction Warlock — Build, Talents and Rotation
Destruction Warlock is the premier raid DPS warlock of vanilla. At its core is the famous SM/Ruin combo: deep Affliction for Shadow Mastery and Improved Shadow Bolt, plus Destruction for Ruin (guaranteed crit damage). The result is clean Shadow Bolt spam with high output. On WowX5 x5 the destro warlock reliably makes MC and BWL raid rosters.
The build's core is Improved Shadow Bolt (ISB): keep a +20% Shadow Bolt damage debuff on the boss, maintained by the whole warlock group. Ruin doubles crit damage, so crit is especially valuable here.

What this build is for
Destro (SM/Ruin) is raid damage and burst:
- Raids — the top caster DPS warlock: Shadow Bolt spam, the ISB debuff on the boss, Curse of the Elements for the raid.
- PvP — explosive shadow and Conflagrate burst, but less survivable than affliction.
- Leveling — fast casts, but less self-healing than affliction.
It is a "bolt cannon": a simple, effective raid rotation.

Shadow Mastery boosts all shadow damage, Ruin doubles crit damage — together they maximize Shadow Bolt DPS.
Rotation and play
The rotation is simple: keep the Improved Shadow Bolt debuff on the boss (Nightfall procs give instant casts), spam Shadow Bolt non-stop, and refill mana with Life Tap between casts. Before the fight apply Curse of the Elements (+magic damage for the raid) and summon an Imp/Succubus.

Stats and gear
Destro priority: shadow spell power → spell hit (to the 10% cap) → crit → intellect/stamina. Hit is vital — a missed Shadow Bolt wastes the cast; crit is doubly valuable because of Ruin.
