Druid Buffs and Utility: Mark of the Wild, Innervate and Rebirth

Section: Classes & races 5 min read Vanilla 1.12.1 · x5 Updated 05.10.2026

Druid buffs are one of the main reasons to bring this class to a group or raid. Mark of the Wild strengthens every ally in armor, attributes and resistances at once, Innervate keeps healers from running dry, and Rebirth puts a fallen tank back into the fight. In this guide for the WoW x5 server we cover every druid utility spell in Vanilla 1.12.1: ranks, reagents, cooldowns and practical advice.

Mark of the Wild and Gift of the Wild

Druids get Mark of the Wild at level 1, and new ranks arrive every 10 levels — 7 ranks in total, the last one at level 60. The buff lasts 30 minutes and needs no reagents. Rank 7 gives the target 285 armor, 12 to all attributes and 20 to all resistances, one of the most valuable buffs in the game and especially important for tanks.

Gift of the Wild becomes available at level 50 and applies the same effect to the whole party of the target, and for a full hour. The price of convenience is a reagent:

  • Rank 1 (level 50) — Wild Berries, 240 armor, 10 to attributes, 15 to resistances;
  • Rank 2 (level 60) — Wild Thornroot, 285 armor, 12 to attributes, 20 to resistances.

Reagents are sold by reagent vendors, and a full stack is worth bringing to every raid: after a wipe the Gift has to be renewed on each group. In a 40-player raid druids usually split the groups between themselves so no mana is wasted. The Restoration talent Improved Mark of the Wild boosts both spells by up to 35% at 5/5. See the restoration druid build for talent details.

Thorns

Thorns is learned at level 6 and has 6 ranks (levels 6, 14, 24, 34, 44 and 54). The buff lasts 10 minutes and deals Nature damage to every enemy that hits the target in melee; rank 6 deals 18 damage per hit. While levelling, Thorns is free extra damage for the druid in bear form, and in dungeons it goes on the tank who is being hit by several enemies at once.

Innervate: who gets it in a raid

Innervate unlocks at level 40. For 20 seconds it increases the target's mana regeneration by 400% and allows 100% of that regeneration to continue while casting. The cooldown is 6 minutes, the range 30 yards.

Since normal mana regeneration in 1.12.1 depends on Spirit, Innervate is strongest on characters with a lot of Spirit. Practical rules:

  1. The best target is a high-Spirit healer (most often a priest) whose mana is running out in a long fight.
  2. Use Innervate mid-fight rather than at the pull: the target needs to have spent mana and keep healing.
  3. A healing druid can Innervate themselves if that saves the encounter.
  4. With several druids in the raid, assign Innervates in advance, otherwise two druids end up giving it to the same priest.

The priest buffs that complement druid buffs are listed in our priest buffs guide.

Rebirth: the combat resurrection

Rebirth is the only spell in Vanilla that can bring an already dead ally back in the middle of combat. It has a 2 second cast and a 30 minute cooldown in 1.12.1. Each rank needs its own reagent:

RankLevelReagentHealth and mana after resurrection
120Maple Seed400 / 700
230Stranglethorn Seed750 / 1200
340Ashwood Seed1100 / 1700
450Hornbeam Seed1600 / 2200
560Ironwood Seed2200 / 2800

The classic raid priority is to raise a dead tank first and a healer second. Other ways to come back are covered in our help article on death and resurrection.

Removing curses and poisons

Druids are one of two classes, together with mages, that can remove curses. Remove Curse is learned at level 24 and removes one curse from an ally. Cure Poison is available from level 14, and Abolish Poison from level 26 removes one poison immediately and then one more every 2 seconds for 8 seconds. For raid assignments see the decursing guide and the article on dispel mechanics.

FAQ

What is the difference between Gift of the Wild and Mark of the Wild?

Gift of the Wild buffs the whole party of the target for 1 hour but needs a reagent. Mark of the Wild buffs a single target for 30 minutes and is reagent-free. Rank 2 Gift of the Wild gives the same bonus as Rank 7 Mark of the Wild: 285 armor, 12 to all attributes and 20 to all resistances.

What is the Rebirth cooldown in patch 1.12.1?

In 1.12.1 Rebirth has a 30 minute cooldown, a 2 second cast time, and every rank uses its own reagent, from Maple Seed at rank 1 to Ironwood Seed at rank 5. It is the only way to bring a dead ally back in the middle of combat.

Who should get Innervate in a raid?

Innervate raises the target's normal mana regeneration by 400% and lets it continue while casting. It is best spent on a healer with high Spirit, usually a priest, when their mana runs low and the fight is still long. The cooldown is 6 minutes, so raids assign Innervates between druids in advance.

Can druids remove curses and poisons?

Yes. Remove Curse is learned at level 24 and removes one curse from an ally. Cure Poison is available from level 14, and Abolish Poison from level 26 removes one poison immediately and another every 2 seconds for 8 seconds.
