WeaponSwingTimer: auto-attack timer for WoW Classic x5
Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ruWeaponSwingTimer is a lightweight addon that displays a timer until the next auto-attack of the main hand and off hand. It is a key tool for warriors, rogues and hunters seeking maximum DPS.
Why the Swing Timer Matters
In WoW Classic auto-attacks make up a significant portion of physical classes' DPS:
- Warrior (Fury/Arms): Heroic Strike uses the next auto-attack — it is important to know the swing moment
- Rogue (Combat): Sinister Strike synergy with auto-attacks for Sword Spec procs
- Hunter: Synchronizing Auto Shot and Aimed Shot is the foundation of Hunter DPS rotation
Without the timer you are guessing the attack timing. With WeaponSwingTimer you see the exact moment.
Installation
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Download WeaponSwingTimer for 1.12.1 |
| 2 | Extract to Interface/AddOns/ |
| 3 | Enable in the addon menu |
| 4 | Type /wst in game |
WeaponSwingTimer uses minimal memory and does not conflict with other addons. It can be used together with DBM, Omen and pfUI.
Addon Interface
After installation two bars will appear on screen:
- MH bar (Main Hand) — timer until main hand attack
- OH bar (Off Hand) — timer until off hand attack (if present)
The bar fills and resets with each auto-attack. For hunters the Auto Shot timer is shown.
Configuring Position
`` /wst unlock — unlock for moving /wst lock — lock position /wst scale N — change scale (e.g.: /wst scale 1.5) /wst alpha N — transparency (0.0–1.0) ``
Use in Combat
Fury Warrior:
- Watch the MH timer before pressing Heroic Strike
- Heroic Strike replaces the next auto-attack — press 0.3–0.5s before the swing
- This prevents "losing" an auto-attack between HS and normal swings
Combat Rogue (Swords):
- Sword Specialization procs from auto-attacks
- Watch the OH timer to understand the proc rhythm
- Use Slice and Dice to speed up swings
Hunter:
- Auto Shot → Aimed Shot rotation is the core Hunter DPS rotation
- WeaponSwingTimer shows the exact moment of Auto Shot
- Do not press Aimed Shot too early or Auto Shot will be delayed

Advanced Techniques with WeaponSwingTimer
With experience using the timer more subtle techniques become available:
Berserk proc (Berserking enchant): when Berserking procs weapon speed increases. The timer updates in real time — you immediately see the shortened swing interval.
Clipping Auto Shot: hunters completely avoid Auto Shot clipping when they can see the timer. The rule is simple: do not press Aimed Shot until Auto Shot has fired. WeaponSwingTimer makes this visually obvious.
Parry Haste: when a boss parries a warrior's attack its next auto-attack speeds up. Conversely this means danger for the tank. Some advanced tanks use WeaponSwingTimer to assess parry haste risks.
WeaponSwingTimer is a small addon with a big impact on results. Install it and see the difference in your very first fight.
