Omen Threat Meter
Omen Threat Meter

Omen Threat Meter is an addon for displaying threat levels in real time. In WoW Classic, aggro management is critical: if DPS exceeds the tank's threat, the mob will switch to them and the group risks a wipe.

What Is Threat (Aggro)

Every action in combat generates threat:

  • Damage — each unit of damage = 1 unit of threat
  • Healing — 0.5 threat for each unit of healing
  • Tanking abilities — Sunder Armor, Taunt, Heroic Strike grant bonus threat
  • Threat reduction — Juju Flurry, Threat Reduction potions lower threat

The mob attacks the player with the highest threat. The tank's goal is to always hold first place.

Installing Omen

StepAction
1Download Omen from CurseForge (version for 1.12.1)
2Extract to Interface/AddOns/
3Enable in the addon menu on startup
4Type /omen in game
Совет

Omen works through addon-to-addon communication. The more players in the group using Omen, the more accurate the threat data.

Threat Table
Threat Table

The Omen window shows a list of players sorted by threat:

  • Red bar — player is about to grab aggro (>110% of tank's threat)
  • Yellow bar — danger zone (90–110%)
  • Green bar — safe zone (<90%)

If your bar turns red — slow your DPS or use a threat reduction ability.

Omen Settings

Type /omen config to configure:

  • Display — size, transparency, window position
  • Filters — show only current target or entire raid
  • Alerts — sound warning when threat level is dangerous

Threat Management Tips

For DPS:

  • Wait 3–5 seconds after the pull before starting DPS
  • Watch your Omen bar — don't exceed 80% of the tank's threat
  • Learn your class's threat reduction abilities

For Tanks:

  • Use Sunder Armor from the first seconds of combat
  • Heroic Strike + Sunder spam maintains maximum threat
  • Taunt will bring the mob back if DPS grabs aggro

For Healers:

  • Don't heal before the tank establishes aggro
  • Fade (Priest) is an excellent way to drop threat from the healer
Важно

In a raid without Omen, DPS players are literally "flying blind". This is one of the most common causes of wipes in MC and BWL in Classic.

Omen and Raid Discipline

In WoW Classic there is no built-in threat limiter. Omen fills this gap. A proper culture of using Omen in a raid is a sign of a mature group. In top world guilds DPS players monitor their own threat and do not require constant reminders from the raid leader.

Install Omen before your first raid night. It is a short step that will significantly reduce the number of accidental wipes from grabbed aggro and increase overall DPS by allowing players to push harder, knowing the threat table is under control.

For beginners we recommend: start with 70% of the tank's threat as your personal limit. As the tank's gear and threat rotation improve you will be able to work closer to 85–90%.

FAQ

Why do you need Omen in WoW Classic?

Omen displays the threat (aggro) level of each player in the group. This helps DPS players not outrun the tank and not pull the mob onto themselves.

How to open Omen?

Type /omen in chat or click the button on the minimap. The threat window will appear on screen.

Omen is showing incorrect data?

Make sure all group members are using a compatible version of Omen. The addon works more accurately when all participants have the same version installed.

How to reduce threat when Omen is sounding the alarm?

Use threat reduction abilities: Feign Death (Hunter), Vanish (Rogue), Invisibility (Mage). You can also just stop DPS for a few seconds.
