What is Tier 2.5
Vanilla raid-set progression goes: Tier 1 (Molten Core) → Tier 2 (Blackwing Lair) → Tier 2.5 (Temple of Ahn'Qiraj, AQ40) → Tier 3 (Naxxramas). Each T2.5 set is 5 pieces (head, shoulders, chest, legs, feet) with bonuses at 3 and 5 pieces.
To enter AQ40, the server's Gates of Ahn'Qiraj must be opened — the result of the server-wide War of the Shifting Sands event (the Scepter of the Shifting Sands quest chain and ringing the Scarab Gong at the gates).

How Tier 2.5 pieces are obtained
Unlike Tier 1/Tier 2, finished set pieces do not drop. AQ40 bosses drop generic armor tokens (a physical and a caster variant each) that you exchange with the guardian dragons (Vethsera, Kandrostrasz, Andorgos) inside the raid for your class item. Besides the token you also need crafting materials (idols, scarabs) and Brood of Nozdormu reputation.

Armor tokens ≠ weapon tokens. Separately, bosses drop Imperial Qiraji Armaments and Imperial Qiraji Regalia — these are weapon tokens (the legendary Qiraji blades and staves) and are not part of the set armor.
