Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ru

Netherwind Regalia is the Tier 2 raid set for the Mage in WoW Classic Vanilla. The full set consists of 8 pieces of cloth armor obtained in the game's second 40-man raid — Blackwing Lair. It is the next step after the Tier 1 Mage set; the full overview of all classes is in the Tier 2 sets hub.

What is Netherwind Regalia

Tier 2 is the second level of Vanilla raid gear, stronger than Tier 1 across the board. The Netherwind Regalia set is built for the ranged caster DPS role and fills 8 armor slots in one style. Its bonuses activate at 3, 5 and 8 pieces — the more parts you wear, the stronger the effect.

Set Bonuses

PiecesBonus
3Reduces the threat generated by your Scorch, Arcane Missiles, Fireball, and Frostbolt spells.
5Increases the radius of Arcane Explosion, Flamestrike, and Blizzard by 25%.
810% chance after Arcane Missiles, Fireball, or Frostbolt that your next spell with a cast time under 10 sec is instant.

You don't have to collect all 8 pieces at once: the 3- and 5-piece bonuses already noticeably strengthen the Mage. Many players mix Tier 2 with non-set BiS items from BWL, trading part of the set bonus for better stats in specific slots.

Note: you cannot complete Netherwind Regalia in BWL alone — the helm drops from Onyxia and the legs from Ragnaros in Molten Core. The other 6 slots drop from Blackwing Lair bosses. The Atlas addon makes it easy to check drops.

Is It Worth Farming on WowX5 x5

On a server with x5 rates, leveling to 60 and assembling a BWL raid go noticeably faster than on 1x Classic. The Netherwind Regalia set provides:

  • a strong stat base for the ranged caster DPS role;
  • key set bonuses that are hard to replace with non-set items;
  • progression toward AQ40 and the Tier 3 set from Naxxramas after BWL.

For the optimal raid talent layout see the Mage talent builds guide, and for the leveling path see the Mage leveling guide.

What's Next

Once you have Tier 2, move on to the Tier 3 set from Naxxramas. If earlier tiers are still open, collect Tier 1 Mage, Tier 0 and Tier 0.5. Class overview is on the Mage page.

FAQ

Where does the Netherwind Regalia set drop?

Most pieces drop in the 40-man [Blackwing Lair](/en/raids/blackwing-lair) raid. The head comes from [Onyxia](/en/raids/onyxia) and the legs from [Ragnaros](/en/raids/ragnaros) in [Molten Core](/en/raids/molten-core), so a full 8/8 set requires BWL + MC + Onyxia.

What are the Mage's Tier 2 bonuses?

Bonuses trigger at 3, 5 and 8 pieces. The 8-piece bonus: 10% chance after Arcane Missiles, Fireball, or Frostbolt that your next spell with a cast time under 10 sec is instant.

Do I need Tier 1 before Tier 2?

Technically no, but BWL access usually belongs to guilds that have cleared [Molten Core](/en/raids/molten-core). On WowX5 with x5 rates guilds progress faster, so Netherwind Regalia is collected far earlier than on 1x Classic. See the [Tier 2 sets hub](/en/wiki/tier-2-sets) for all classes.
