Role and combat rotation

The Paladin is a support hybrid: it heals with Holy Light, buffs the group with blessings and auras, and melees with a seal on its weapon. In raids it's usually a healer or buffer, but it can tank packs and deal damage in the Retribution tree. Its signature saves are Lay on Hands and Divine Shield.

Ability tips on x5

  • Keep an aura up and hand out blessings to the whole group — a constant free buff.
  • Lay on Hands is your last-resort trump: a full heal but a long cooldown, don't waste it.
  • On x5 in melee keep a seal active and refresh it with Judgement for extra damage.

FAQ

Can the Paladin tank in WoW Classic?

Yes, with caveats: in Vanilla the Paladin has no taunt and holds threat via auras, seals and Consecration. It handles mob packs well, but a Warrior is more reliable on single bosses. On x5 this 'prot-adin' farms comfortably.

How do seals and judgements work?

A seal is a temporary weapon buff (damage, healing or mana from hits). Judgement 'fires' the seal effect into the target as an instant strike, after which the seal must be re-applied.

Why does the Paladin need blessings and auras?

They are its main group value: auras give a constant bonus to everyone nearby (armor, resistances), while blessings boost a single player or a whole class. Smart distribution noticeably strengthens the raid.
