The mage is one of the most button-heavy classes in WoW Classic. On WowX5 x5 mages often hold the key AoE role in dungeons and interrupt dangerous casts in PvP. The right macros save dozens of action bar slots.
The mage can cancel their own cast with /stopcasting — use it before an instant spell so you don't waste the GCD.
