Elwynn Forest is the human starting zone and the launch pad for thousands of journeys on WoW Classic X5. You take levels 1 through 10 here, learn the core mechanics and pick up your first gear. On x5 rates the zone flies by in about an hour, but do not skip the quests — they give exactly the experience and gold you need for the push into Westfall.
Level range and how to get there
Range: Levels 1–10. Human starting zone. Northshire Abbey covers levels 1–5, then you descend to the village of Goldshire. Stormwind sits to the north-west with the bank, auction house and class trainers.
Quest hubs and chains
Northshire Abbey — levels 1–5: kobolds, deserters, ore. Goldshire (Lion's Pride Inn) — the main 6–10 hub: wolves, spider caves, kobolds in Fargodeep and Jasperlode mines, murlocs at Crystal Lake. Eastvale Logging Camp and the Maclure farms add quests against Defias bandits.

The nearest dungeon is the Stormwind Stockade beneath the capital, level 22–30 — you will return later. For now, aim to leave Elwynn by level 10 and head to Westfall.

- Keep your gear fresh: hit the auction house and an enchanter every 5–7 levels.
- Carry food, water and bandages — on boosted rates a regen pause noticeably slows your pace.

- Do not over-level: once the zone stops offering yellow quests, move on along the route.
