Dun Morogh Leveling 1–10 — WoW Classic x5 Guide
Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ruDun Morogh is the snowy dwarf and gnome mountains in the south of the Eastern Kingdoms, home to Ironforge. It is the starting zone for both races: the path runs from Coldridge Valley through Kharanos to Ironforge. A frosty but compact 1–10 range that clears quickly on x5.
Dun Morogh is a cozy snowy starting zone with dense quest hubs and a capital next door. Dwarves and gnomes fight troggs and snow yetis, and by level 10 enter Ironforge and open the road into Loch Modan.
Level range and how to get there
The recommended range is level 1–10. Dun Morogh is the dwarf and gnome starting zone: dwarves begin at Coldridge Valley, gnomes too after the Gnomeregan evacuation. The road leads to the village of Kharanos and the gates of Ironforge. On x5 the first levels go by very fast.
Quest hubs and chains
Key hubs: Coldridge Valley (tutorial quests, first abilities), Kharanos in the centre (main hub: flight path, bank, inn, quests) and Ironforge in the north-east (capital: trainers, professions). Grab the Kharanos quests in a batch.
Where to level
No icons in the table — text only, so cells don't break.
| Spot | Level | What it gives |
|---|---|---|
| Coldridge Valley | 1–4 | Troggs and snow leopards, tutorial quests |
| Around Kharanos | 4–7 | Snow yetis and boars, village quests |
| Frostmane Hold | 6–9 | Frostmane trolls, quest chains, drops |
| Proving grounds & mines | 8–10 | Troggs and mechanicals, finish to 10 and into Loch Modan |
Elites
Dun Morogh has no major world elites — reinforced targets appear in quests at Frostmane Hold (troll leaders). Everything is soloable; call neighbours for quick quest targets.
Nearby dungeons
Dun Morogh holds the entrance to Gnomeregan — a level 24–40 dungeon. It's too high at the start, but note the road to the Mechanized city: you'll return with a group later.
Tips for the x5 server
- On x5 the 1–10 range takes an evening — grab all Coldridge and Kharanos quests at once.
- Visit Ironforge by level 10: trainers, professions and a flight path.
- Troggs and yetis give early money and hides — level skinning/mining alongside.
- Don't rush Gnomeregan at the start — it's 24+; come back with a group later.
- Professions: miners find copper and tin in the mines, and it's the perfect start for engineering with the gnomes.
Where to go next
At level 10 enter Ironforge, then take the tunnel into Loch Modan — the Alliance 10–20 zone. From there the road leads into the Badlands and the Burning Steppes' approaches.
