Combo Points — WoW Classic
Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ruCombo points are the ability-power mechanic of the rogue and the druid in cat form. They are not fuel like energy but a meter: the more points you gather on a target, the more devastating the finisher.
Do not "overburn" points. Spending a 5-point Eviscerate is almost always better than two weak 1–2 point ones: finisher power scales non-linearly.
Builders and finishers
- Builders grant 1 point per ability: Sinister Strike, Backstab (rogue); Claw, Rake (cat).
- Finishers spend all points at once: Eviscerate, Kidney Shot, Slice and Dice, Rupture; Ferocious Bite and Rip for the druid.
- Max is 5 points on a single target. A sixth point is wasted.
Target binding
The most important Vanilla detail: combo points are bound to a specific enemy. Switching targets resets what you built. So you build and finish on one enemy rather than smearing across a crowd.
| Action | Effect on points |
|---|---|
| Builder ability | +1 point on target |
| Finisher | Spends all points |
| Target switch | Reset to 0 |
| Cap | 5 points |
Combo points on the x5 server
On WowX5 x5 fast leveling does not change the combo mechanic. Build to 4–5 points and finish — that is how you squeeze the most out of energy. Ability damage mechanics are covered in combat formulas. Create a rogue on WowX5.
FAQ
How many combo points can you build in WoW Classic
A maximum of five combo points on a single target. Builder abilities add one point each, and finishers spend all of them; the more points spent, the stronger the effect.
Are combo points lost when you switch targets
Yes. In Vanilla combo points are bound to a specific target. If you switch to another enemy the accumulated points reset, so it pays to finish the combo on one enemy.
Who uses combo points in Vanilla
Combo points are used by the rogue and the druid in cat form. The rogue builds them with Sinister Strike and Backstab, the druid with Claw and Rake, and both spend them on powerful finishing moves.
