Attack Power — WoW Classic stat
Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ruAttack Power (AP) is a secondary stat of WoW Classic that your primary attributes convert into. AP decides how much extra damage you deal with weapons. It is the key number for everyone who fights up close or shoots from range on the WowX5 x5 server.
Remember the rule: 14 attack power = +1 average damage per second. This formula lets you compare items with attack power against items with raw weapon damage.
How attack power becomes damage
Attack power adds damage in proportion to weapon speed. The bonus per swing equals weapon speed times attack power divided by 14. So a slow two-hander gains more damage per hit from AP than a fast dagger, even though the per-second value is equal.
- 14 AP gives about +1 DPS.
- Slow weapons scale better with abilities like Sunder and Mortal Strike.
- Fast weapons favor on-hit effects and rogue poisons.
Melee and ranged attack power
WoW Classic has two separate values. Melee attack power boosts melee swings and special abilities. Ranged attack power works only with bows, crossbows and guns — the signature stat of the hunter.
Where to get attack power
The main source is your primary attributes: strength for the warrior and paladin, agility for the rogue and hunter. Then come items with a direct attack power line, a warrior Battle Shout, a paladin Blessing of Might and a hunter Trueshot Aura. Build a pre-raid set for your class and study the combat mechanics to see how AP works together with crit and hit. Create a fighter on WowX5 x5 and unlock full attack power.
