Attack Table — WoW Classic
Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ruThe attack table is the heart of all WoW Classic combat mechanics. It decides how a swing ends. Understanding its layout explains why hit is so valuable and where your crits "disappear" on the WowX5 x5 server.
In Vanilla the outcome is chosen by a single roll on a range from 1 to 10000. This is fundamentally different from games with separate checks for each effect.
Order of outcomes
Outcomes fill the table strictly in order. As soon as the slices reach 100%, everything that did not fit is discarded:
1. Miss — the swing does not land at all. 2. Dodge by the target. 3. Parry (front attacks only). 4. Glancing blow (white attacks only). 5. Block by a shielded target. 6. Critical strike. 7. Ordinary hit — takes the whole remainder.
Crit pushed off
Crit sits near the end of the table. Against a level 63 boss misses, glancing and dodges take a lot of room, and part of your crit literally "falls off" the table. That is why hit and weapon skill free up room for crit and raise damage indirectly.
White and yellow hits
| Hit type | Glancing | Hit cap vs boss |
|---|---|---|
| White (auto) | Yes | higher (two-hander) |
| Yellow (specials) | No | 9% |
| White dual-wield | Yes, +19% miss | very high |
Yellow abilities (Sunder Armor, Sinister Strike) never glance, so hit up to 9% against a boss removes all their misses. Assemble a pre-raid set, study your stats and create a fighter on WowX5 x5.
FAQ
What is the single roll in WoW Classic
It is a system where the outcome of a swing is chosen by one random roll on a shared table. Miss, dodge, parry, glancing, block, crit and hit take consecutive slices and their sum is capped at one hundred percent.
Why can crit be pushed off the table
Crit sits near the end of the table. If misses, dodges, parries and glancing take up a lot of room, there is no free percentage left for crit and some crits are lost. Hit and weapon skill free up room for crit.
How do white hits differ from yellow ones
White hits are weapon auto-attacks and their table includes glancing blows. Yellow hits are special abilities like Sunder or Sinister Strike, they have no glancing and a different table, so their hit cap is lower.
