Seal of Ascension: How to Get the UBRS Key

It is not a simple key but a reward for a quest chain that requires farming gemstones. On WoW Classic X5 the grind is faster thanks to the x5 rate.
What the seal unlocks
Upper Blackrock Spire is home to Rend Blackhand, Drakkisath (the Onyxia attunement step for the Horde) and many Tier 0 and pre-raid BiS items. Its entrance is sealed by a rune only the seal owner can activate.
Step 1: Unadorned Seal of Ascension
First you need the Unadorned Seal of Ascension — the blank into which the gems are set. It is granted by the starting quest of the chain tied to Blackrock Spire. Pick it up before your dungeon runs so you do not have to go twice.
Step 2: Three gemstones
The main work is collecting three gems from the elite bosses of three orc clans in Lower Blackrock Spire (LBRS):

The gems are quest items and take no bag space. Go as a group of five: the elite bosses cannot be soloed.
Step 3: Ritual and assembly
With the blank and all three gems, complete the Seal of Ascension quest — the gems fuse into a single key. The finished seal is Bind on Pickup and lives in your key ring.
Step 4: Open the UBRS gate
Head to the Upper Spire portal (inside Blackrock Mountain, above the LBRS entrance). The seal owner activates the rune at the gate and the way opens for the whole group or raid.
On x5 it is worth having several guild members build the seal, so UBRS runs never depend on a single key holder.
Common mistakes
- Skipping the starting quest before LBRS — you will have to return for the gems.
- Selling or dropping the blank — the Unadorned Seal is not easy to reacquire.
- Going solo — the clan bosses are elite; you need a full five-man.
