Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros: How to Assemble the Legendary Mace in WoW Classic
Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ruSulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros is the legendary two-handed mace burning with the Firelord's flame. It is easier to assemble than Thunderfury, but you still need Molten Core, high blacksmithing and a pile of Dark Iron materials. On WoW x5 fast reputation and mob farming speeds things up, but the Eye of Sulfuras must still be pried from Ragnaros.
The two halves
Sulfuras is assembled from two parts:
1. Sulfuron Hammer — an epic mace you must craft; 2. Eye of Sulfuras — a rare add-on item from Ragnaros.
Step 1. Craft the Sulfuron Hammer
A high-skill blacksmith forges the mace at the Black Anvil in Blackrock Depths. The recipe is bought from a Dark Iron vendor. Materials:

The bottleneck is the 8 Sulfuron Ingots — farmed over several weeks of Molten Core.
Step 2. Obtain the Eye of Sulfuras
The Eye of Sulfuras drops from Ragnaros, the final boss of Molten Core. It is a rare drop, so be ready for a series of kills. See the Ragnaros guide for the fight.
Step 3. Combine
Once you have a finished Sulfuron Hammer and the Eye of Sulfuras, apply the eye to the hammer — it becomes Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros. No separate quest or blacksmithing is required.
Tips for x5
- Hoard Sulfuron Ingots from every Molten Core run — never sell them.
- Dark Iron materials farm in Blackrock Depths — combine with leveling blacksmithing.
- Sulfuras is a prestige/tank-hybrid weapon; its DPS trails top crafted gear, but the Immolation effect and legendary status are priceless.
Common mistakes
- Wrong blacksmithing skill. The Sulfuron Hammer needs high blacksmithing and the Dark Iron recipe — check in advance.
- Selling Sulfuron Ingots. The ingots are only for the hammer; save all 8.
- Expecting the Eye on the first kill. The drop is rare — plan for a series of raids.
