Centaur — the warlike nomads of WoW Classic
Centaur are a savage race of half-human, half-horse beings roaming the dry plains of Kalimdor. Split into feuding clans, they have warred with the tauren over grazing land for centuries and despise all outsiders. On WowX5 x5 the centaur are among the chief foes of central Kalimdor.
Centaur patrol the roads of Desolace mounted and strike from range with lances. Don't ride into their camps alone at a low level — the clans move in large groups.

◆Who are the centaur
Centaur are tall beings with a humanoid torso and the body of a horse. Legend says they descend from the union of the demigod stag Zaetar, son of Cenarius, and the malevolent earth princess Theradras. From their mother they inherited cruelty, from their father raw strength.
Centaur know neither mercy nor unity. They live in clan-hordes that constantly claw at one another over water and pasture. The only thing that unites them is hatred of settled peoples, above all the tauren.
◆Centaur clans
In Desolace several clans clash in endless war:
| Clan | Trait |
|---|---|
| Kolkar | The largest, spread as far as the Barrens and Thousand Needles |
| Magram | Warriors of central Desolace |
| Gelkis | Allies of the Desolace ogres |
| Maraudine | Tied to the burial mounds and Maraudon |
Players can often turn the Magram and Gelkis clans against one another through quest chains — a classic Desolace storyline.
◆Where to find centaur in WoW Classic
- Desolace — the heart of the centaur lands, all four clans.
- Thousand Needles — Kolkar outposts among the canyons.
- The Barrens — Kolkar raids on the caravan roads.
- The edges of Mulgore — skirmishes with tauren defenders.
Quests to cull the centaur are a key part of Horde leveling in the 20–35 range across central Kalimdor.
◆Centaur on the WowX5 x5 server
For a Horde player the centaur embody the menace of the wild plains: fast, vicious and numerous. Understanding their clan feuds turns clearing Desolace into a real war rather than mindless farming.
