Crabs are armored beasts of Azeroth's shallows and coasts. Their shelled bodies and heavy pincers appear wherever land meets water: from the beaches of Stranglethorn Vale to the shallows of Darkshore. In the sea bestiary crabs are the most common and most durable prey.

What crabs are

Crabs are arthropod beasts covered in a hard chitin shell. They are slow but stubborn: a disturbed crab charges its attacker and clamps on with its pincers. Azeroth hosts small beach crabs, large deep-water specimens and brightly colored varieties of warm seas.

Unlike the sentient makrura, crabs are ordinary animals without tribes or castes. That is exactly why a hunter can tame them as a pet.
